CD Receiver Fits Bookshelf Niche

07/25/02 - Onkyo has debuted the compact CS-210 CD receiver and bookshelf speaker system package that can be adapted to acoustic environments ranging from packed bookshelves to wide open counter-tops. The CS-210 is perfect for those seeking a complete high-quality, inexpensive audio system with a built-in CD player and AM/FM radio for their home, office, summerhouse, or dorm room. The CS-210 CD player, which can play CD-R and CD-RW discs, uses a single-bit D/A (Digital-to-Analog) converter with 8 times oversampling for exceptional playback sound quality. There are program, random, and repeat-play modes for user convenience. The digital synthesis AM/FM tuner has excellent reception and sound quality, plus 30 preset memories to speed access to favorite stations. Music power is provided by two, discrete-component 20-watt WRAT (Onkyo’s Wide Range Amplifier Technology) power amplifiers that are perfectly matched to the included two-way 4-ohm bass reflex loudspeakers. These speakers use a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter, and 5-inch OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber) composite woofer with an S-Line surround. The speakers are magnetically shielded for use near TV and video screens. Other features include a four-step acoustic presence control that adjusts the bass levels for optimal sound in different acoustic environments. There is also a built-in clock and timer function, subwoofer preout, optical digtial outputs, and a headphone jack, The Onkyo CS-210 CD receiver is now available with a suggested retail price of $200.
